After taking a brief look through the material of the final project, I'm excited and anxious to think about all of the possibilities there are. I will say that it's possible I'll change my mind on a topic since we've only read two of the four texts. However, from what we have read so far, I think the topic of a female protagonist would be interesting to explore. Growing up as a boy, I became familiarized with books that largely had male protagonists. Having a male protagonist in any story seemed like the norm. I don't understand the struggles of many women around the world, so I think this topic would really force me to learn material I'm not familiar with.
Another topic I'd be interested in exploring is political controversies. As a Political Science major, I have always been fascinated by the power struggles between different groups. I think these controversies are so intriguing because it allows us to analyze what happened and learn from the mistakes of those involved.
While I have my reservations about Neatline, I'd like to try out the platform. I had technological problems, but I think that the platform will make it easy for me to display the geographic locations of all the texts I choose. I also like the idea that readers can interact with the points on the map to learn information about each piece.
Hi James, I think both of the topics you're considering would make really interesting final projects! You could even combine both topics and exploring the intersection between women's rights and political controversies. I also had trouble with Neatline in the beginning, but I know that it'll really help you get your point across. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteHey James! Both of those topics sound really interesting and I was also considering doing my research on female protagonists. I totally understand why you'd want to do the other topic, though, considering it goes hand in hand with your major.
ReplyDeleteHey James! I hadn't considered the political aspect of the texts we had read, so I think this would be a really interesting route to go. I would be excited to see your take on this, especially as a Political Science major. I'm looking forward to seeing how you explore this further, if this is the idea you decide to go with. Good brainstorming work so far! :)
ReplyDeleteHow about a topic focused on the portrayal of female politicians? That would combine your two topics here but still give you a lot to choose from. Make sure your results are literary--fiction, poetry, drama, etc. I will put you down for this unless you let me know otherwise!
